 | Music- Belinda loves
music of all kinds. The background music is a recording of a song she
and her daughter sang in church. They sound so much alike it is
hard to tell them apart. She sings the verse then switches to alto
when her daughter Sam takes the lead. She added this one for her Daddy. Her favorite's are Gospel, Country, & Classical
(which her momma calls long haired music) She started singing early. The
earliest she can remember is laying on her momma's lap in the swing and
Anne trying to get Belinda and Jim to take a nap, she would sing that
Doggie in the Window and a little song she called the Paper Boy song.
Belinda would try and sing but Anne would say shhhhh listen. Do you hear that?
Soon the two would be fast asleep. She recently told me this. " My daddy's rich bass voice and my momma's beautiful alto
blended a lot of times together to make me smile more than once when I
was small. I still feel a great deal of peace in my heart when I hear
those two voices together I know all is right in my world."

 | She also plays a little
piano and a tenor sax. She played in the Betsy Layne High School
Band. Where she won several awards in the all county
competitions. She also sang with the Prestonsburg High School Choir
where she was invited to attend because her school did not have a
choir She had about a years worth of lessons on the
piano and then she taught herself to play her way. She is
currently playing the keyboard for her singing group Second Generation
Vocal Band Music Ministry |
 | Singing
- She has been involved with singing in public since she
was very young. She sang her first solo in the church when she was 12
and has been doing so every since. She also won several awards in the
all county vocal competition. She was a part of the Cutler Ridge
Ensemble Class and received an award her 9th grade year as well.
Although she won a full scholarship to Pikeville College she decided
to be a mother instead. She has said many times she wishes she
had stuck that out and become a music teacher like she had planned and
then had her children. She sings with a group called The
Second Generation Vocal Band, they sing southern gospel.
They have no formal recording as of yet but hope to get
one together someday soon. She knows God will lead her the
direction she needs to go and depends on that daily. The group
is just starting to do a little traveling in and around the East
Texas area. They are having a good time doing this and know that with
the Lord in it they will always get a blessing from doing so. If
you would like to hear them, check out their website below and find
out how to contact them please see the see the link below.

 | Painting:
She loves to paint also. From houses to ceramics and has just
recently started painting some pictures thanks to a birthday present
she said from her mother and I.
|
 | Gardening: Belinda loves
to piddle in her flower beds! "I love pretty flowers and have a secret
ambition to become a landscaper I think!" She grins." I do love to make
things bloom and grow. For me it is a sure sign God is there to see
the perfection of a flower and the sweet scent that often accompanies
it. To me there is no greater place to witness God's miracle's than in
nature. If it be from something as tiny as a flower or an ant, to as
big as an ocean
or a raging storm! Oh so much of God is in all these things." |
